NCONA values its oncology partners as essential allies in our mission to decrease barriers to care across the state. North Carolina Oncology Navigator Association is proud to work with Cancer Centers in North Carolina that provide excellent treatment plans for oncology patients. These valued partners encompass a diverse array of stakeholders, across the state and nation, including comprehensive cancer centers, advocacy groups, governmental organizations, and our corporate sponsors.

Together, we work tirelessly to address the unique needs and challenges faced by cancer patients and their families. Through our collective efforts, we strive to foster a supportive ecosystem that empowers patient navigators to provide their patients access to quality care at the best cancer centers in North Carolina and, ultimately, advance the fight against cancer in North Carolina and beyond.

NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in North Carolina

NCI-Designated in 1972, the Duke Cancer Institute is a highly-collaborative and innovative cancer center that focuses on integrated patient care, game-changing cancer research, synchronous collaboration, and the best cancer and healthcare researchers and physicians in the world. The Institute consists of more than 300 experts who conduct basic, clinical, translational, and population sciences research across 11 disease sites, including select progressive initiatives such as brain and spine metastasis, immunotherapies, and oncology-primary care interfacing.

NCI-Designated in 1975, UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center is the largest research entity within UNC and North Carolina’s only public NCI-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Center. UNC Lineberger has played a critical role in advancing the understanding of the genetics of cancer by conducting interdisciplinary research through nine programs: cancer cell biology, immunology, molecular therapeutics, virology, cancer genetics, clinical research, breast cancer, cancer prevention and control, and cancer epidemiology.

NCI-Designated in 1974, Atrium Health-Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center (WFBCCC) offers nine cancer care locations across the Wake Forest Health Network, providing access to cancer care and expertise to the Piedmont and southern Appalachian region. The WFBCCC’s cancer research activities are focused on four programmatic areas: Cancer Prevention and Control, Neuro-Oncology, Cancer Genetics and Metabolism, and Signaling and Biotechnology. Additionally, with over 250 clinical trials available, the Center offers more cancer-related clinical trials than any other hospital in the region.

At Outer Banks Health, we want to help you carry that weight by providing state-of-the-art cancer care and support close to home. It’s why we built the Carol S. and Edward D. Cowell Cancer Center. The Outer Banks Health Cowell Cancer, conveniently located across the street from the hospital in Nags Head, North Carolina, houses all of our cancer services under one roof.

Cone Health Cancer Center is a leading institution dedicated to providing comprehensive cancer care in North Carolina. Governmental

The NC Cancer Prevention and Control Branch focuses on reducing the burden of cancer in North Carolina through prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship support. They implement evidence-based strategies, promote healthy behaviors, provide education and resources, and collaborate with partners to address cancer disparities and improve outcomes statewide.
